Had them out to repair my chimney and replace damaged and crumbling brick along the bottom of my house. They were very thorough in the evaluation and presented a plan for fixing everything that was more detailed than 2 companies that quoted me for around the same price.
Work was completed in 2 days and done very well.
One thing that I will warn anyone about when having brick work done is the amount of dust it creates. This would be true of any company. Make sure all windows are shut and consider taping plastic over your exterior outlets.

I recently had a full chimney rebuild and additional masonry work done by Mortar City Masonry and I’m very happy with the results.

My home was built in 1953, and the chimney had developed water damage over time, especially at the top. They removed and rebuilt the upper portion (multiple rows of brick), installed a new flue tile, and poured a new concrete crown. They also completed tuckpointing and replaced damaged bricks around my home, including work on the front porch wall.

The crew showed up on time and worked steadily throughout the day. The workmanship looks clean and professional — straight brick lines, solid mortar joints, and a well-formed crown that should help prevent future water damage. They didn’t rush the job and made sure everything was cleaned up before leaving.

I appreciated that they provided proof of license and insurance, explained the work clearly, and followed through on everything in the contract. They also included a warranty, which gave me peace of mind.

Overall, I feel like I received solid work for a fair price and would recommend Mortar City Masonry to anyone needing chimney or brick repairs.

If only every project would go as smoothly as this! We called many masonry contractors and most didn’t even bother to call us back. Mike was extremely responsive, came out to give us a quote (a very reasonable one) and then didn’t hound us after that. A few weeks went by before we were ready to have our chimney repaired, and when I called Mike get something scheduled, he was able to have his team come out within a week to get it done.

His crew was very respectful, they did an awesome job and were very quick, and they were able to provide me photos of the work up close so I didn’t need to climb up there and check it out myself.

Honestly, I couldn’t ask for a smoother experience all around. After dealing with plenty of terrible contractors over the years, it’s just really refreshing to have an overall great experience, even for something as silly as a chimney repair.

Mortar City was great to work with for my chimney repair, tuckpointing, and sidewalk replacement. They did an excellent job, and came in at a very reasonable price. Their sales team came out twice because of a storm the first time, their workers came a week early to complete the job, and when it ran long, finished the job on the 4th of July so that I wouldn't have equipment all over my front lawn for the entire weekend.

On top of it, during the work they found an extra cracked brick- and marked it for repair. After completing the work we realized they forgot to replace it. I didn't want to say anything because it was not part of the work I hired them to do originally. Two weeks later, after they had been paid and everything, they came back and replaced 2 cracked bricks and new tuckpointing in that area. When I emailed to thank them for going above and beyond they said - "we knew it had to be done, and that is just how we do things :) " . I was stunned, impressed, and will be calling them out when it's time to re-pour my driveway and patio.

I had a good experience with the quote process. Scott had a drone to inspect the Chimney brick deterioration along with the cap being split which showed the rook cause of the brick/water damage. They coordinated a crew that came out the next day to begin. Diligent workers, respected my yard, and talked me through what they hoped to accomplish through the day. Very professional. Referral to this service came from a different trade professional who I respected. Prompt appointment for evaluation and estimate. Moved up the work date to accommodate our needs. Looked at the entire fireplace and chimney and pointed out a more serious problem than what I knew about. It didn't feel like an upsell. Work crew was quick, neat, and pleasant. This group worked on my 2 houses that needed chimney repair at one, and removal at another. I also added cement work at one of the houses as the stair was not attached to the porch. This morphed into replacing some broken sidewalk, so it was a bigger job. They did this in November 2023. It was at the end of cement pouring season, and when it looked like the weather was going to go against us, they pivoted into the cement work. 2 of the workers were there until 9 pm, making sure that the cement was poured and levelled as they wanted it. The chimney removal went smoothly, they really cleaned up the property well. On the other house, they fixed the chimney and added a bird cage to keep animals from getting in, I had a squirrel in the house during the summer, and did not want that experience again. I appreciate all they did, the effort they put in, the communication. The work looks great.
